I found this little didy today.
It is a letter to an ex-boss after a resignation.
When I read it, I got to thinking it could also
fit some nonpaying jobs as well. Like the PTA,
clubs, church, and a lot of other places you donate
your time and labor.
The letter:
"Thanks for asking me to stay on, but I respectfully decline.
However, if in the future I ever feel the need to be publicly humiliated,
blindsided, ostracized and called a spy, be distrusted and disciplined
by superiors for no good reason, fight for wages that are rightfully mine,
stabbed in the back by fellow employees, used as a pawn in executive
rivalries, or (especially) chewed out when you're have a bad day,
I'll get back to you!
Me was just thinking, before you fire off a letter like this,
You might just become a boss yourself someday.

Most of the time, it isn’t a good idea to burn the bridge to a former job. But sometimes when you are positive you would never go back, it can be fun to watch people when you burn the bridge.
Me, I have never been sure enough to burn the bridge. But I remember at one of my previous jobs, the CEO’s administrative assistant left. HR went to one of the VP’s administrative assistant and told her “You are now the CEO’s administrative assistant”. She told them she didn’t want it. HR replied, “You don’t understand you don’t have a choice!” So she went. But in about a month she went to HR and told them, “You were wrong I did have a choice, I have found another job and am leaving.” So she was told you need to teach so and so how to do this, and some else how to do that, and so on. She answered, “You don’t understand, this isn’t a two week notice, it’s a two minute warning”. She then walked out the door.
