Loose ends:
To tie up loose ends has a real meaning here now. I was showing
Ricky how cold the ac was in Henry. It is one cold 50 Ford. I notice
the unit wouldn't cool setting still when the engine fan wasn't running.
That fan cycles with the engine heat. So if the engine isn't very warm
the AC won't cool. If you are stuck in traffic the air will not perform well,
due to fan going and off, and the car not moving thru the air.
I decided to add a manual switch to the engine fan. Easy enough to do.
I checked it out and it worked like a charm. It would cycle as before, or
I could turn it on and keep it on as I wish.
Now to check out the AC with the fan on. Oopps The AC won't come on.
Quick check to see if I pulled a wire loose under the dash. Nothing that I
could see. I retired for the day.
The next day I remembered (which is hard for us oldsters) that when I installed
the AC unit, I just stuck the power wire to the fuse so I could just pull it loose
if there were a short. That was over two months ago. I still had to plump all
the hoses. I knocked the wire loose when I pulled the new wire for the fan switch.
I hard wired it in and all is good. Not. Now the car won't start.
More loose ends. Three years ago when I rewired the whole car, I installed a
master fuse inline before anything was online. I just stuck the main wire that goes
the the fuse panel to the master fuse so I could just pulled it loose in case of a short
when testing. I had knocked it loose while hard wiring the AC. I hard wired the
power supply in.
Debugging goes on.
