Bare foot

Mother wouldn't let us go bare footed till the first of May.
As a kid I didn't put shoes back on till laborday.
Have you ever seen a barefoot kid at church? Back in the forties
we went that way. Some of the kids that was made to wear their
shoes, would pull them off as soon as they came out the door.

I would be barefooted at work most of the time in the summer.
I know a lot of you reading this will find that hard to believe.
I worked in a bodyshop. I was water sanding and washing cars at some point
most days. Barefooted save the shoes and I enjoyed being barefooted.
I had tough enough feet to walk around in the shop where grinders where
the rule of the day.

After I retired I got in the habit of putting my shoes on when I got up
and take them when I took my bath at night.

Well this year I am going barefooted again. So don't laugh if you see me
barefooted somewhere this year. I going into to my second child hood.

Comments:
I remember going barefoot as a kid, but by the 60's kids didn't go to church barefooted. Now I don't even see kids going barefoot when playing. I also remember when you were the only adult I knew that went barefoot.

Even now, I take my shoes off when I enter the house. Not to protect the floors or carpet, but because I want my shoes off.
I don't go barefoot outside. I used to, but after living in florida and the fear of hookworms I wear them when I'm outside. Also, the fear of stepping in "land Mines" in the back yard.

Now I take them off in the house and run around in my stocking feet. I love me that freedom. I wear the socks, because I don't like the looks of my toes. They aren't ugly or nothin'... they just creep me out.

shut up. I have issues.
Talk about "Land mines" I as a kid, I had to feed the chickens and all the livestock while barefooted. That is why my feet grew to be so big. I always had to wash my feet outside before each trip in the house.
Me too>

What I always hated was finding the old cow pie that had crusted over, and no longer smelled until you found it with your feet and broke the crust open, man what a smell much worse than the fresh ones.
