I was just reading what Allen commented about the GGA elections.
It brought to mind a meeting I went to back on the first of this month.

I have been going to and was a member for several years of a older car club in
Cartersville, Ga. It has been around for some twenty five years. I haven't been going much since
my old car has been down. I have been in contact with a few of the members
lately as I am working on the car.

I went to the October meeting and forgot that is when they hold their election.
I never did mind going to that meeting because they got their ducks in a row.
The monthly meeting is always at some place to eat. After everyone has eaten,
they have the meeting which will last twenty minutes or so.
The election took about five of those minutes.
The month before, August, they ask for and got a volunteer to be the nomination committee.

This person ask if anyone that is there wants to run, and then ask the current officers if they will run again.
At the beginning of the election meeting they will pass out a sheet of paper with the names of
of the people running for each office with one blank space so you can write in anybody you wish, including
yourself. After recognizing the birthdays, and the opening welcome, they all pass the sheets to the front.
The officers wife's count the votes, and at the end of the short meeting they tell who will be in office for the next year.

They get a big hand and then adjourn for chatting with each other about the old cars, etc.

Comments:
Something like this can work and work well for a group where everyone lives in the same area. But I don't see how it could work for group made up of people from at least 4 states.
This group is nation wide.
Cartersville ia where the Ga chapter is. This chapter has members from over a hundred miles. One family comes from mid Ga every month.

But as you guessed most are less than 25 miles from Cartersville.
"Chapter" that is the key word. Too bad the GGA never formed chapters, never really understood why the proposal died (or was killed).
.
I tried to get them to get their poop together on it. I pushed hard. My thought is if we didn't we would end up with splinter groups and animosity.

Yeah, but what do I know?

A.
